Kenya Nguguini AA is everything that has made Kirinyaga one of the world's most respected coffee origins. Grown on the rich volcanic soils of Mount Kenya, this lot is produced by the Nguguini Factory, a washing station established in 1958 and operated by the Kibirigwi Farmers Cooperative Society. Today, more than 1,200 dedicated smallholder farmers deliver their harvest here, combining decades of experience with meticulous attention to quality.
Every cherry is selectively hand-picked at peak ripeness before entering Kenya's renowned washed process. After careful sorting, the fruit is pulped and fermented for up to 24 hours to remove the remaining mucilage. The parchment is then washed through grading channels and soaked in clean, circulating water before being transferred to raised drying beds. Over the following 7 to 14 days, the coffee is turned regularly and protected from the intense midday sun, ensuring slow, even drying and preserving the exceptional character of the beans.
The coffee consists primarily of the celebrated SL28 and SL34 varieties, cultivars developed for their resilience, deep root systems and remarkable cup quality. Graded AA—the largest screen size in Kenya—this lot reflects the country's uncompromising approach to coffee production, where careful farming, disciplined processing and generations of expertise come together in every harvest.
