La Jalca, Amazonas, stands high between 1,800 and 2,000 meters, where altitude and climate create ideal conditions for exceptional coffee. This fully washed blend comes from 150 independent producers united under Monteverde’s Nueva Esperanza group, combining Caturra, Bourbon, Pacamara, and Pache varieties across individual farms. Farmers selectively handpick only ripe, red cherries, ensuring quality from the start. The cherries are pulped and fermented for 12–24 hours in plastic tanks, then washed thoroughly in clean water. After washing, the parchment is laid on raised beds inside solar dryers, where it dries evenly under careful supervision. Each producer follows best practices taught by Café Monteverde’s technical team, balancing tradition with precise cultivation methods. The coop cultivates both traditional and hybrid varieties, achieving resilience in the field and consistency in the cup. Traceability is maintained throughout the process, from farm to drying table, ensuring that every lot reflects the hard work of the producers and the unique characteristics of the La Jalca region. The result is a coffee defined by altitude, care, and skill, delivering clean, vibrant flavors with clarity and strength.
