Coffee from the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda is known for its distinctive quality and unique growing conditions. The region’s high altitude, cool temperatures, regular rainfall, and rich volcanic soils create an excellent environment for producing Arabica coffee. Most coffee is grown by smallholder farmers on small family farms, often at high elevations in the mountains.

After harvesting, the coffee cherries are carefully processed to develop their flavors. Different processing methods are used, including natural, washed, and anaerobic processing. Some farmers process their coffee themselves, while other cherries are brought to the Nyabirongo processing facility. Careful harvesting and processing help improve the consistency and overall quality of the beans.

Agri Evolve also provides farmers with training to improve coffee production and quality. By improving farming techniques, processing methods, and access to equipment, the region continues to produce higher-quality coffee while increasing productivity and creating better opportunities for local coffee-growing communities throughout the Rwenzori Mountains.
